Bethany Tasaka

San Bernardino Valley College

Professor of Mathematics

Bethany Tasaka is a Professor of Mathematics at San Bernardino Valley College, where she strives to foster equity, culturally responsive teaching, and student-centered learning in both her classroom and leadership roles. A proud product of the Inland Empire, she earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Mathematics from California State University, San Bernardino. As a hapa woman in STEM, she understands the importance of visibility and representation in academic spaces where too many have been made to feel like they don’t belong. Bethany is committed to expanding access and affirming the presence of those who are often the “only one” in the room.

Bethany believes deeply that education has the power to transform lives. She is dedicated to creating opportunities for others to step into leadership, uplifting voices that have often been overlooked, and supporting lasting change through community and collective effort. She has served in many campus and statewide leadership roles, including curriculum chair, academic senate officer, founding member and past chair of the ASCCC Asian and Pacific Islander Caucus, and interim management positions. When not working, Bethany loves movies (especially horror!), crafting, and spending quality time with loved ones.
