MDTP grade-level and course-level diagnostic assessments are designed to measure students’ mathematical preparation in foundational topics of the course students are entering, and/or to inform students’ preparation for their next-level course and are informed by the California State Standards for Mathematics.
The diagnostic results should be used formatively to understand students' strengths and areas of unfinished learning, inform instruction and potential interventions, evaluate course readiness, measure program growth, and identify appropriate professional learning.
MDTP tests can be administered any time throughout the school year and are available in both paper form and on the MDTP Online Testing platform.
MDTP has a full selection of released tests aligned to the California Common Core State Standards for Mathematics (CA-CCSSM) curriculum expectations.
Available online and in paper test booklets. Spanish versions available (online and paper).

This is our second year of field testing three different test versions that are parallel to the current Algebra 1/Integrated Math 1 Readiness test released in 2019 (AMR45A19). These parallel tests are designed to provide the same diagnostic assessment of students’ readiness in foundational topics necessary for success in an Algebra 1 or Integrated Math 1 course aligned to the California State Standards for Mathematics.
Field testing should occur in Algebra 1 or Integrated Math 1 classes. We request for teachers to assign all three versions to the same class and randomly assign each student to one of the three versions to obtain data from comparable samples (i.e., students from the same class and with the same teacher).
Each version has 45 questions with 15 being common items (same questions) and 30 being parallel or similar items (but not the same). The questions on each version responds to the same topic.
Calculators are not recommended.
