MDTP Tier Reporting

New programming on the MDTP Online Platform aligns students’ topic readiness to three tier levels. Tier performance helps:

  • students to consider their readiness as a continuum of learning that can improve over time
  • teachers to support students to access their course content.
MDTP Tier labels are defined as:

Tier Levels

Tier levels help to identify topics where most of the class is ready for whole class instruction (Tier 1), or when bridging (Tier 2) and focused intervention (Tier 3) are needed.

Tier Levels by MDTP Topic

The graph below (Tier Levels by Topic) shows the summary-page view from a performance on the MDTP Diagnostic online platfrom for an Integrated Math 1 Readiness Test.

In this example, 85% of the students demonstrate readiness for Integers (INTG) while 44% of students show that focused intervention is needed for Linear Equations and Inequalities (LINR).

Tier-level Reporting for Comparing Topic Performance

The graph below (Tier Levels by Topic) shows the summary-page comparison view on the MDTP Diagnostic online platfrom for an Integrated Math 1 Readiness Test. The bars show tier-level growth by topic for students from the same class who took the same assessment multiple times.

*Note: Comparison graphs only show results for students who took the same assessment during both administrations.

Student Tier-level Performance Letter

Bring students into the learning! Student letters from the MDTP Diagnostic online testing platform can be emailed home or downloaded as PDF files to share with students and caregivers.

Student letters align MDTP Topic performance to tiers as shown in the example letter below for student in an Integrated Math 1 class. Educators should share the results of MDTP diagnostic tests with their students to engage them in formative learning around their current readiness by topic. Emphasizing that readiness is a construct that is malleable and changing takes the focus away from an overall score and supports a growth mindset.Tier Student Report
