Teresa McCarthy

Double Peak School

Teresa McCarthy began her teaching career in 1997. She has been an elementary teacher and a middle school special education teacher. She is currently a sixth grade math teacher at Double Peak K-8 school in the San Marcos Unified School District. Teresa earned her BS in Elementary Education from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana, her Clear Multiple Subject and Mild/Moderate Special Education credential from CSU San Marcos, and her MA in K-8 Mathematics from San Diego State University. Her passion for how students learn mathematics has inspired her to volunteer for the Greater San Diego Mathematics Council (GSDMC) as a board and conference committee member. She also continues to learn from other math educators and researchers at venues such as the Park City Math Institute (PCMI), CMC and NCTM conferences. She enjoys serving as a support provider for prospective and new teachers.
