MDTP Readiness Tests

Each readiness test is designed to measure mastery levels in predetermined topic areas in which competency is necessary for success in the course.  MDTP tests can be administered at various times throughout mathematics courses. Readiness tests may be given near the beginning of a course, part-way through a course, and at the end of a course.

MDTP Middle School Readiness Tests

The Middle School Field Test (MS35D17) (item field test) includes many items that are new and have not previously been tested for reliability or validity. Since MDTP cannot verify that these items are predictive of students' overall or topical readiness, MDTP does not recommend that the resulting data be used as an indicator of student readiness for an entry-level middle school mathematics course. Field-testing should occur in California Common Core State Standards Grade 6 classrooms.

The Grade 7 Mathematics Readiness Test (7R40A15) assesses essential topics needed for success in a California Common Core State Standards Grade 7 mathematics course and includes standards from grades 3 through 6.

The Grade 8 Mathematics Readiness Test (8R40A15) assesses essential topics needed for success in a California Common Core State Standards Grade 8 mathematics course and includes standards from grades 3 through 7.

The High School Mathematics Readiness Test (HS45A15) assesses essential topics needed for success in a California Common Core State Standards Algebra I or Integrated Math I course and includes standards from grades 3 through 8.

Note: The Prealgebra Readiness Test (PR40A04) has been replaced by the 7R and the 8R, which are aligned to the CCSS. Teachers who still have PR test booklets may continue to use the PR, although with the understanding that it is not aligned to Common Core curricular expectations for middle school mathematics courses.

MDTP High School Readiness Tests

The High School Mathematics Readiness Test (HS45A15) assesses essential topics needed for success in a California Common Core State Standards Algebra I or Integrated Math I course and includes standards from grades 3 through 8.

The Integrated Second Year Readiness Test (IS45A17) assesses essential topics needed for success in a high school California Common Core State Standards second-year integrated mathematics course.

The Integrated Third Year Readiness Test (IT45A17) assesses essential topics needed for success in a high school California Common Core State Standards third-year integrated mathematics course.

The Geometry Readiness Test (GR45D17) (field test) assesses essential topics needed for success in a geometry class aligned to California Common Core State Standards and includes concepts studied in CCSS-aligned first-year algebra.

The Geometry Readiness Test (GR45A06)  assesses preparation for geometry and include concepts studied in first-year algebra. This test is not aligned to CCSS.

The Second Year Algebra Readiness Test (SR45D17)  (field test) assesses essential topics needed for success in a second-year algebra class aligned to California Common Core State Standards and includes concepts studied in CCSS-aligned geometry and first-year algebra.

The Second Year Algebra Readiness Test (SR45A06) assesses preparation for second-year algebra and includes concepts covered in the geometry and first-year algebra. This test is not aligned to CCSS.

The Mathematical Analysis Readiness Test (MR45A08)  assesses preparation for precalculus or other courses at that level.

The Calculus Readiness Test (CR45A12) assesses preparation for calculus.
